This year the Christmas lights in Malaga was switched on the 24th in November, did you miss it? Don’t worry, you will find a video of the lighting if you continue reading.

The lighting decoration and switching date change every year, however this year will be the same as in 2015. In past events they used up to 600.000 led lights in Larios street, the most centric and popular street in Malaga. Nevertheless this city is one of the best places to enjoy the Christmas lighting in the world.

The company in charge of Christmas lights in Malaga also make them for different companies and cities worldwide. You will be able to find their lighting leds in New York at the fifth avenue, Las Vegas, Dubai or Hong Kong among others. Many visitors from Europe come to enjoy not only the Christmas lights in Malaga but the unique festive environment present in the city.

Lighting is switched off on January the 6th.

Torremolinos christmas lighting switching on is the Friday 2nd of November at Plaza de la Nogalera.

Christmas Markets in Malaga

Many locals enjoy the Christmas environment by visiting any of the many Christmas markets in the province.

There are usually every year markets at Soho district and Alameda park. I will update the list as new information is coming.

Initially I think the list will not be much different than the previous year one so you can check a past year list of Christmas Markets in Malaga.

Chrismas Market in Fuengirola is already available at Plaza de la Constitución.

VISITING TRADITIONAL NATIVITY SCENES

Every year they organize traditional nativity scenes, some of the most popular are the one inside Malaga Cathedral and at the Town Hall in Malaga.

Cathedral opening time: 10am to 2am and from 5pm to 8pm

Town Hall opening time: 10am to 2am and from 5pm to 9pm

New Year’s Eve in Malaga

You can find a wide variety of hotels for the New Year’s Eve party with dinner included or if you prefer, you can celebrate in one of the main squares of the cities of Malaga, where typically meet a large number of people to celebrate the arrival of the New Year.

In adition if you want to celebrate the New Year with more people you can visit one of the following locations:

Malaga – Plaza de la Constitucion and Calle Larios
Torremolinos – Auditorio Municipal Principe de Asturias
Benalmadena –  Plaza de la Mezquita

The Three Kings in Malaga during 2017 will spend the night in the Alcazaba. The parade will leave from the city hall on Monday 5 January.

The parade will begin at 5 pm on January 5th and the route is as follows*:

  • Plaza de la Marina
  • Alameda Principal
  • Puente Tetuan
  • Avenida de Andalucia
