About Collegium Musicum
Founded in 1975 by a small group of music enthusiasts on the Costa del Sol, Collegium Musicum has grown into a prominent cultural institution. The group aims to enrich the lives of the international community through the joy of making and enjoying music. Today, it comprises a mixed choir of approximately 80 singers—ranging from sopranos and altos to tenors and basses—and a 25-member orchestra. What makes this group truly special is its blend of ages, nationalities, and musical backgrounds, with members hailing from 10 to 15 different countries depending on the season.

A Musical Journey with an International Flair
Collegium Musicum is more than just a choir and orchestra; it is a melting pot of cultures and experiences. Rehearsals are conducted in both English and Spanish, fostering an inclusive environment where members can develop their musical talents while making new friends from around the world. The ensemble’s season runs from September through May, with rehearsals held every Tuesday in Las Lagunas, Mijas. The orchestra meets from 18:00 to 20:00, followed by the choir from 20:00 to 22:00.
Performances and Community Impact
Each season culminates in two concerts, held in December and May, in the scenic locales of Fuengirola and Marbella. These performances offer members the unique opportunity to showcase their talents in a supportive and collaborative setting. The repertoire is diverse, catering to a wide range of musical tastes and abilities, from classical masterpieces to contemporary works.
