Spring is in fully swing at The Arts Society de la Fontera!

The Arts Society de la Frontera is a vibrant and sociable society, holding lectures on a broad range of topics on the third Wednesday of the month between October and May, given by world class lecturers that have been chosen from a list of The Arts Society accredited UK based speakers who, in turn, have undergone a rigorous selection process.

Taking Place on Wednesday 18th April 2018

Russian Apocalypse: The tragedy of the last Romanovs:

This lecture describes the collapse of Czarist Russia and the murder of the Nicholas II and his family, a story told in part through the innocent eyes of his young son, Czarevitch Alexei,and teenage daughters, the Grand Duchesses Olga, Tatiana,Maria and Anastasia, using their drawings, paintings and photographs.

Mr Warwick is an author, historian and major event organiser.

The Month of April

The Young Artists’ Competition is taking place in April.

This will be the eighth edition of this annual event and will once again involve the six schools in the San Roque Municipal catchment area. A week long exhibition will be held in the Espacio Joven in San Roque from Monday 16 to Friday 20th April, with the prize-giving evening with tapas and refreshments for The Arts Society members and friends, participating artists and their families being held on the Friday evening from 6 – 7 pm.

Wednesday June 6th – Feasting on Art

This annual art exhibition will be held at Finca Monasterio, just beyond San Martin de Tesorillo. Recently refurbished, this finca has the charm and character of an 18th century monastery, surrounded by elegant grounds, patio gardens and cool cloisters, it is the perfect backdrop for the artists to display their creative work.
